Abdul Razak Bin Kasmuri obtained his MD and MSc (Pharmacology) degrees from School of Medical Sciences USM and PhD degree from School of Pharmaceutical Sciences USM Penang. Upon completion of his PhD he joined Kulliyyah of Pharmacy, IIUM. He was a Deputy Dean of Postgraduate and Research in 2006/2007 and Deputy Dean of Student Affairs in 2008/2009 at Kulliyyah pharmacy. He chaired a committee in drafting the IIUM Animal Ethics Policy in 2009 and the policy was endorsed by university senate in 2012.
He was a committee member of Malaysian Society of Pharmacology and Physiology (MSPP) for 2007/2 008, 2008/2009 and 2011/2012 sessions. He was awarded ‘Special Recognition’ award in co-curricular activity in 2009 and ‘Long Service Award’ in 2016. Presently, Dr Abdul Razak is an Associate Professor at the Department of Basic of Medical Sciences of Kulliyyah of Pharmacy IIUM. He is the head of training unit in Kulliyyah of Pharmacy Safety, Health and Environment committee.
He teaches pharmacology in Anti-infective Agents, Anticancer Agents, Clinical Toxicology, Peripheral Nervous system and all body systems subjects in course of pharmacy. His approach in research is mainly looking at the efficacy and safety of natural products or plants extracts by improvising and opting pharmacological models either in vivo, in intro or ex vivo.
