Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hazrina Ab Hadi (PhD., RPh., MPS)

Dr. Hazrina was awarded a BPharm (Hons) in Pharmacy from the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) in 2007. She received her MSc Drug Delivery in September 2008 and PhD in Pharmaceutics in December 2012 from The School of Pharmacy, University of London and University College London, respectively. Dr. Hazrina has received several research grants from the Ministry of Education, Malaysia to work on topical/transdermal pharmaceutical formulations as well as natural cosmetic formulations. To date she has successfully supervised nine postgraduate research students. She is currently supervising several master and PhD students. She has also supervised more than thirty undergraduate students for their final year research projects and dissertations. Dr. Hazrina has published more than 20 papers in Scopus and ISI-indexed journals and 3 chapters in a research book. She has successfully filed 3 patents from her research work and also won 5 silver medals for her novel ideas in the development of skin cancer treatment, innovative skin lightening product and wound healing treatment. The medals were awarded during the International Research, Invention And Innovation Exhibition 2015 at IIUM, Malaysia Technology Expo 2019, Malaysia Technology Expo 2020 and Invention, Innovation & Design Exposition 2020. She has also been awarded with Rising Star Scholarship Award by World Congress Dermatology 2019 in Milan, Italy. She is also a reviewer for several ISI and Scopus journals, such as International Journal of Cosmetic Science, Journal of Advanced Pharmaceutical Technology & Research, Journal of Basic and Clinical Pharmacy, Drug Delivery and Translational, and Journal of Research in Pharmacy Practice to name a few. She has presented her research works at numerous national and international conferences (France, Germany, England, Scotland, Japan, Thailand, Pakistan, India, Italy and United States of America). She has been appointed as a Guest Editor for Chemical Engineering Research and Design (Special Issue on Green Industrial Pharmacy) in 2013/2014, and also an Editor for the British Journal of Pharmacy as well as Chief Editor for Drug Development and Therapeutic Journal and Guest Editor for Cosmetics Journal. Dr. Hazrina has served as Head of Regulatory Affairs of iKOP Sdn Bhd, (a pharmaceutical manufacturing pilot plant, a subsidiary of IIUM Holdings Sdn. Bhd. from April 2014 to June 2017. She also has served the Deputy Dean of Postgraduate & Research in her faculty from January 2017 to December 2017. Currently, she is the Head of Department for Research and Development at IKOP Sdn. Bhd and leading Dermatopharmaceutics Research Group IIUM.

Professor Dr. Md. Zaidul Islam Sarker

Professor Dr. Md. Zaidul Islam Sarker who obtained his Ph.D from University Science Malaysia in 2003 started his career as a research associate in Tohoku University at the Research Center of Supercritical Fluids (Sendai, Japan) from 2003 to 2005. In 2005, he was awarded the prestigious Fellowship of Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) for conducting research at the National Food and Agricultural Research Organization at Hokkaido, Japan. In 2007, he joined the University Putra Malaysia as an Associate Professor. In 2010, he joined as a Professor at the International Islamic Unive rsity Malaysia (IIUM) where he is presently working at the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, Faculty of Pharmacy. During the past two years, he has held the position of Head of Research, the Faculty of Pharmacy. Professor Sarker is currently engaged in many international collaborations and consultancies. In 2015 he was a visiting professor of the Department of Food Science and Nutrition at King Saud University, Riyadh, under the Ministry of Higher Education of Saudi Arabia. Professor Sarker has supervised 15 postgraduate (M.Sc & Ph.D) students as a main and co-supervisor, and currently, he is supervising seven PhD and three M.Sc students. He has supervision experience of three postdoctoral fellows and several research assistants, and is supporting five graduate research assistants in his research grants. Professor Sarker recently secured several research grants under Fundamental (FRGS), Exploratory (ERGS) and Prototype (PRGS) Research Grant Scheme as a Principal Researcher of the Ministry of Education (MOE) Malaysia. Professor Sarkera??s speciality is in food science and he has an interest in developing nutritional foods through processing or isolation of natural products that can have pharmacological value. He has expertise in supercritical fluid extraction, marine food products, food processing and food properties, bioactive compounds, fats and oils, pharmaceutical and nutraceutical formulations and rheological properties with over 250 publications in ISI and Scopus indexed journals, patents, books, reports and presentations at international conferences. Professor Sarker was the winner of the American Chemical Society (ACS) Young Scientist Award at PACIFICHEM 2010 and the Gold Medal Winner as the main and a co-inventor in several exhibitions at the national level including the Malaysia Technology Expo 2014 (MTE-2014). Professor Sarker won the Outstanding Researcher Award at the university level in 2013 and 2014.
